My Brief Story

I experienced excruciating neck pain which eventually moved to my shoulder and then to the arm. Treatment with five different prescription painkillers, heating pads, and cold packs did not resolve the problem. This was the worse pain I had ever experienced in my life which had me virtually incapitated and I was unable to sleep on my left side. The pain, at one point, was so bad I was unable to sleep lying down and had to sleep sitting in a chair. My HMO diagnosed degenerative spine changes, neck arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis after seeing four different physicians. A consultation was made for physical therapy with pending consultation for orthopaedic surgery.
After no relief, I decided to go to the upper cervical chiropractor who determined that subluxations were present and my atlas and axis were crisscrossed and pressing on the median nerve. These probably resulted from rear end car accidents. I was a bit apprehensive about the treatment but after the adjustment procedure was explained to me in detail, I felt very comfortable.
After the initial adjustment, the neck pain disappeared and with subsequent treatments, there was no more shoulder and arm pain. It was like a miracle and a blessing to be pain free. My body felt so energized and my digestive elimination and sinus problems improved. There was also a noticeable difference in my hypertension readings, low normal. As a result of the chiropractic treatment, there was no need for physical therapy and certainly no need for orthopaedic surgery. I think if I had not seen the chiropractor, I would have ended up on the oeprating table because there is no way I could have continued to function with the pain.
My personal experience with upper cervical chiropractic treatment has been wonderful and I thank God that it is available to help patients feel like new people. I have had followup and will continue because I want my body to be healthy.
