My Brief Story
Brief Story:  An Athlete’s Point of View

I learned about Brooks Spinal Care from my father, Stephen D. Carr, who was a patient of Dr. Brooks when I was young. So, when I was about 10 years old and was injured in a gymnastics accident, he knew I needed to see him, too. I was having headaches and overall fatigue throughout my whole body. My dad described the condition of my cervical spine as “narley”. I began to feel better after a few visits and within a month or so, I had recovered and was back into sports again.

During my high school years, I played soccer and went on to play at the collegiate level. Having my spine corrected helped me become the soccer player I was, especially in college. In the last few years, I have been keeping my corrections for up to a year, but playing competitive sports for my whole life has created the need for me to see Dr. Brooks more than the average patient.

My energies are currently focused toward my work as a teacher at The Chapman Child Learning Center at St. John’s Hospital. I enjoy my students who are pre-kindergarten age (4 and 5 year olds). We have a wonderful facility where I work with about 20 kids whose parents are employees of St. John’s.

Doctor’s Note: I gratefully acknowledge the gift of watching Camden transform from girl to young woman and finally to the woman she has become today, in sharing a life of caring, loving service. Keeping her spine corrected has made a remarkable difference in her health, her recovery from injuries and how she approaches life. She is remarkable!
