Myotherapy Information provided by Kevin McCarthy
This form of ‘Myotherapy’ treats pain and injury. It is a systematic manipulation of the body’s soft tissue, using a combination of acupressure, trigger points and deep tissue massage. We ‘balance your body’ putting it into a totally unrestricted state.

The treatment is very much ‘hands on’, treating the entire body and freeing up blockages, balancing the muscle groups and re-establishing natural alignment.
The meridians are worked in the body, balancing the chi during the treatment. A unique form of bodywork!

A wide range of conditions have been successfully treated and most pain experienced can be alleviated and usually fixed on a permanent basis. The treatment has a very high success rate and is a safe natural therapy. The treatment works for the correction of serious muscle conditions.

Sports injuries are a specialty and once again a high success rate has been achieved especially with triathletes and multi endurance sports people.

By treating the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms, harmony and balance is restored in the body allowing better general health and well being. Due to the increasing popularity this type of bodywork is experiencing, it has risen to a premium position in this field of treatment.

HISTORY:
Myotherapy, means muscle therapy, Myo meaning muscle. Having Eastern origins, it is a very old term that was used by many different people over many years. The treatment I use is an enhanced version, which incorporates acupressure, trigger points and deep tissue massage.

BENEFITS:
Treats pain and injury, helps health and well-being, improves organ function and boosts the immune system. The treatment can alleviate back and neck pain, sciatica, joint pain and pinched nerves. Carpal Tunnel, stress, RSI, migraines, PMS, tennis and golfers elbow are just some of the health problems that are successfully treated. One of the major benefits with this form of treatment is it will normally fix problems and allow the person to return to good health.

What can you EXPECT from a consultation: A full case history will be taken and your problem discussed. Once the problem is analysed acupressure and trigger point treatment commences the session. Hot towels are then wrapped on the body to enhance relaxation and increase blood flow before the start of ‘oil work’.

Then the massage is started and the whole body is worked, balancing muscle groups and meridians as you work around the body and correcting any leg length problems.

The percentage of improvement is discussed with the client and if any further treatment is required. If necessary nutrition is looked into also as this can help with the healing process.

CASE STORIES:
Confidentiality prevents me naming people and going into case history, however a common response from ex-athletes is ‘If only I had known about this kind of treatment when I was competing’. Most people are amazed that they have tried many other forms of treatments and their problem has not been fixed and yet this treatment can have a 90-95% success rate with as high as 50% or more of first visit clients.
